Chinese Herbal Medicine for Cancer

Chinese herbal medicine for cancer improves the anti-cancer effects of radiation and chemotherapy. It also reduces the harsh side effects of these therapies and improves the overall health and wellbeing of the patient. Chinese herbal cancer treatment can be a stand alone therapy in some cases but in China nowadays combining herbal medicine with radiation or chemotherapy is the standard way to treat many types of cancer.

Side Effects of Western Cancer Treatment

The problem with radiation and chemotherapy is they are so powerful they cause some pretty severe side effects. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) radiation and chemotherapy especially damage the spleen and stomach, leading to such symptoms as nausea, vomiting, poor appetite, diarrhea and fatigue.

Chinese Herbs for Cancer

Fortunately, there are many Chinese herbs for cancer and, typically, these are combined into a formula with herbs that treat the above kinds of symptoms. The beauty of Chinese medicine is any herbal formula can be tailored to specifically match each person's state of health.

Listed below are several Chinese herbal remedies which may be taken to help reduce the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy and to boost strength and immunity. These are well known herbal tonics.

Chinese Medical Diagnosis

I strongly suggest though that anyone with cancer should visit an experienced TCM practitioner to get an individualized Chinese herbal prescription based on a TCM diagnosis. A Western medical diagnosis is not enough to properly prescribe Chinese herbal medicine for cancer (or any other condition). If you need help locating a TCM practitioner see my FAQ page.

1. Reishi Mushroom: Called Ling Zhi in Chinese. Strengthens immunity; increases resistance to stress; boosts energy, vitality and sleep; an effective adjunct to cancer therapy to improve quality of life.

2. American Ginseng Essence of Chicken: Comes in small jars as a liquid extract. A well known tonic to boost energy, strength and immunity.

3. Cordyceps Essence of Chicken: Similar to No.2 but with additional ingredients to boost energy, appetite, libido and immunity in people with a prolonged or severe illness, or people recovering from major surgery or cancer therapy.
